Jody Hedlund- Hereafter Review

I'm sure that by now you are the all VERY aware of my great love of Jody Hedlund's YA romance series. But in case you have missed that you can catch up on my post about Book 1 and Book 2.

And then get back over here to join me in the celebration of her third book!!!!

Blurb

The third lost princess. The final key to the treasure. And a battle for the throne.

Growing up deep in the forest as a poor charcoal burner’s daughter, Emmeline has always known her identity as a princess of Mercia, and she lives in fear of being caught and killed. When her adopted father returns from town with news regarding the imminence of war, Emmeline has no wish to join the rebellion against King Ethelwulf.

Prince Ethelrex, the strongest warrior in the land, has done everything he can to prove his loyalty to his father, including searching for the last lost princess. When Ethelrex finally captures Emmeline, the king commands his son to marry the princess in order to win the support of the people and undermine the rebellion.

Forced into marriage, Emmeline has one goal—to escape. But Ethelrex takes his marriage vows seriously, including his promise to love and cherish his wife, and has no intention of letting Emmeline get away. As the battle for the throne rages, will the prince be able to win the battle for Emmeline’s heart?

My Review:

So I'm probably just going to SCREAM FOREVER WHY IS THIS SERIES OVER WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THE REST OF MY LIFE????

I loved Jody Hedlund's last YA series. ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. But this series? This lost princess trilogy? This series takes the tea. I mean seriously I am in love.

And because I couldn't help myself here is another collage.

Emmaline was my favorite of the sisters. She was relatable in her anxiety attacks and her love of both reading and animals and her feelings of inadequacy. I loved seeing more of Lance and Felicia, my other OTP. I adored Rex (although Edmund is my only true love) although this boy... oh my stars he was so selflessly obstinate he really needs someone to take care of him because he won't do it himself.

I don't think we are actually in any danger of Stolkholm syndrome with this book despite the whole forced marriage thing XD (view spoiler). Also don't worry it was all tastefully done and still appropriate for a ya audience.

I really need more books in this series. *happy sighs*

I received a free copy of this book from the author, all opinions, however, are my own.

This book is releasing TOMORROW! There is still time Preorder  you don't want to miss out on this!

My Havok Story Part Four

Still on hiatus, actually I'm writing this in advance because I don't want you guys to miss out on my latest story being published on Havok. Crown of Daisies is... a temperamental story to put it cryptically, but that is all I will say you gotta read it for yourself.

And to make the deal sweeter this story is based off of a 1980's song and if you are a member of Havok and guess the song correctly you get entered in a drawing for an Amazon gift card.

The Language of Worlds- Chelsea//Hiatus Announcement

Hey guys, remember in my post last week? And I promised to try to keep a regular blogging schedule in October, and also that I would announce a new project? I lied. Yeah, apparently I was mistaken XD Turns out what I'm actually doing is going on a hiatus. But I want to actually really and truly try to finish the first draft of A Season of Subterfuge, Courtiers, and War Councils this month before NaNo starts. If we are being realistic here that is like another 100k I have to write, maybe just 90k but still waaaay too much. Which is why I am going on a hiatus including from blogging to focus on that.

However, I did want to squeeze in one more blog post to let you all know what is going on and also to take part in this Language of Worlds hosted by the lovely Liv because she asks amazing questions XD

I decided to talk about my MC from SoS Chelsea Welling considering that I will be spending all month with her.

(all pictures via Pinterest credit to their original creators)

1. Your character is in crisis! Who is the first person they turn to?

Easton for sure. Every time. Honestly I don't know what Chelsea would do without Easton. Oh yeah, that's right. Have a nervous breakdown.

2. Who has their unconditional loyalty?

Chelsea's family. Her mom, dad, and twin brother Clint. But also her two best friends Bobby and Easton. They could do literally anything and Chelsea would let them. And she would certainly kill for them he-he he-he...

3. What cause do they believe in? Why?

Well the earlier question sort of hints at this, but Chelsea is an extremely loyal soul. She would do anything for those she loves. I don't know if she has any cause beyond that of trying to obtain her safety and happiness for her loved ones.

4. Are they easy to get along with?

Actually, yes, very much so. Chelsea is rather quiet and easily adapts to the energy of those around her, even strangers.
5. Are they a night owl or morning dove? (Or “weird daytime pigeon”?)

Probably a weird daytime pigeon XD She has been known to stay up late or to wake up early, but only because of circumstances.
6. What do they consider most vital to their health? Are they right?

Probably rest, getting enough sleep, taking it easy when injured. I mean, yeah XD It's a good idea in theory. Chelsea is really good at having good ideas that she can never follow through with.

7. What was their childhood fear?

Oh the usual, monsters under the bed. In the closet, lurking in the darkness ready to strike.

8. What do they have nightmares about?

In Week of Werewolves, as I'm sure you can all imagine from the title, but Chelsea had a little run-in with a werewolf. And she still has nightmares about that.

9. What sights/sounds/smells remind them of home?

Being with Clint, Bobby, and Easton all of them just goofing off and pretending that they don't have cares— that is the number one thing that reminds Chelsea of home. But the items that Chelsea packed in her backpack also remind her of home, especially the smell of the shampoos and soaps that she brought.
10. What do they love most about themself?

At one point in time Chelsea would have said her optimism and how she always manages to see the best in the situation but um... she isn't entirely optimistic anymore so I think she would probably say her resilience. She's surprised that she is still standing and honestly I am too.

Well that's all for today. See you in November!

Rose's Wrath Cover Reveal

I don't usually do cover reveals here, but boy are you in for a treat today because I am participating in the reveal of my friend Oceane McAllister's debut novel Rose's Wrath.

First, the synopsis:

"Have you ever heard Red Riding Hood howl at the moon?"

When Cerise, Verre, Blanca, and Aura are forced to complete a near-impossible task, it seems as if their loved ones’ lives are as good as over.

"Or seen Cinderella kill a man with just a shard of glass?"

And despite meeting a dragon, internal disputes, and the fact that they’re all most likely going to die, the young women grow close. Too close.

"Snow White has vanquished more with her poisoned breath than her beauty."

For secrets will come to light that have the power to change everything. There is a traitor in their midst, one who could potentially save or destroy them.

"And Sleeping Beauty? She will bring slumber with but a touch of her hand."

And now onto the cover. Boy do you guys need to see this cover because just... ahh!!! I'm in love.

August/September- Bimonthly Catch-up

Life

Honestly I don't even know why I have this section since literally nothing happens to me outside of my literary adventures XD My blogging schedule got a little spotty because someone somehow ended up stealing my time (if found report them) but coming up I will try to be more steady coming up and get back on my schedule*

*I said that and literally lost power for over twelve hours and that is why this blogpost is late so... something happened yayyyy *cries forever*

Television

I watch way too much TV, and normally this section is super long so I only selected three because I am late as is XD

Rise of the Guardians

I watched this because a friend recommended it to me. And I certainly really enjoyed it so thanks, Lila ;P I must say I was surprised, this isn't Dreamworks' usual cartoon, it was a little more serious than the bumbling Mega Mind or the tongue in cheek Puss in Boots. Maybe a little closer to the line of How to Train Your Dragon? All the same an enjoyable film.

The X-Files

Can I just say that I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS SHOW!!!!! We're almost to the end of season one and already I am hooked. I love Fox Mulder with all my heart  (I've decided that he is an INTP like me and you will not convince me otherwise XD)and also Dana and also everything and AH! I am not coherent when it comes to the X-Files ASDFGHJKL. Current obsession for sure.

Poldark

I am sure that many of you know of my extreme weakness of Period Dramas. I have seen many. But perhaps my favorite period drama is Poldark and so I am both excited, terrified, and disappointed that this will be their final season. I only watched one episode of Season Five (and can I just say O.o), but I did rewatch two previous episodes from the earlier seasons.

Art

Again, not everything that I drew in the past few months, but some of those are spoilers so shhh...

I know you probably already saw this one but it took me the longest so I thought I would include it again XD
From a Steampunk story I wrote a little while ago, it features the two most Cinnamon Roll characters I will ever write

Cedric and Lizzie up to their old tricks XD

From Jennifer Nielsen's The Traitor's Game

Two undisclosed characters from R.F. Gammon's book

I started painting some and so far have done two artworks:

As of yet far I have only done acrylic though I hope to add some watercolors to the mix. Also October is Inktober and I'm actually going to try it out :O so expect a whole lot more art updates to come...

Writing

September 1st I finally published Time of Trepidation after many long hours of laboring over it. Since then I have been feverishly working on book three A Season of Subterfuge, Courtiers, and War Councils. I've reached 50k and while I am ridiculously excited about that... we are nowhere close to reaching "The End". Maybe I can say I am a third of the way through. Maybe? I fully realize now that this is going to be one beast of a book.

I started brainstorming several stories that will as of right now remain unknown, but I do plan to announce a new project this month.

I also published two Havok stories these past two months. And another is on its way so stay tuned in October for when Crown of Daisies comes out.

That's all for today, thanks for stopping by. How has you August and September been? Comment below?
