Well, we have certainly had a lot of cover reveals of late. But I'm not tired of them. Are you?
No, I didn't think so. Let's get on with the cover reveal, then shall we?
Savage Gods and Spellbooks is the first book in a duology set in Ruskhazar. Like all of my Ruskhazar books this will be an adult high fantasy book. I will be releasing Savage Gods and Spellbooks in an episodic format through Kindle Vella next year. I will eventually release it in Kindle and paperback, audiobook, and even hardback formats. But I don't know when just yet so if you're going to want to read this book, I suggest you join Kindle Vella (it's an inexpensive option to get your hands on a lot of really great books).
Anyway, with that little spiel out of the way, let's start scrolling.

She's looking for another chance
He's already on his second life
When the outcast and dead man meet, sparks fly...
And villages burn.
Victor Andreev doesn’t remember much about how he died. What he does remember is agreeing to serve a powerful entity to cheat his death. Now granted a second chance and bound to the demigod patron of dark fates and sudden deaths, Victor wonders if he made the right choice. There is a reason that dealing with demigods is illegal…Bronwyn and her brother have spent far too long running from their pasts. Now graduated from the Academy, they are hoping to claim a new life for themselves as Magickers. When Victor and these siblings meet, they join forces. With the dead rising all around them, they set out to discover a way to defeat a dragon before it wakes and destroys Bronwyn's home. Killing that dragon is the surest way to their redemption and they are going to need an ancient necromancer's spellbook to do it.
But this spellbook was hidden away for a reason. The spells it contains are a twisted perversion of magic and were never meant to exist. The whole world is already crumbling, but what if Bronwyn and Victor make things worse trying to save a few people? In a land where dead things wander nothing is truly what it seems. Certainly not Victor who finds himself slowly descending into a madness meant to punish him for his hubris. But that is preferable to when the demigod takes full control. Sorcery and magic were never supposed to meet and when they do, there are always deadly consequences.Welcome to Ruskhazar, a land threatened by dark magics, dragon fires, and living dead. If you like anti-heroes, slow burn sizzling romance, and kick-butt heroines then you won’t want to miss this high fantasy series that is perfect for fans of Michael J. Sullivan and J.R.R. Tolkien.
Coming to Kindle Vella in 2023
Actually, I'm going to try to start releasing it this year, but I don't want to make any promises, but I would certianly like to start putting it out in November.
I know what you're all thinking, where does she get all of these gorgeous covers? Well, this one was done by
GetPremades. And yes, it was a premade cover. As soon as I saw it, I just knew that I had to have this cover. It was the perfect fit for my story about an undead guy and his girl friend (note that space there, she is merely a friend who a girl *wink*) who is a bonified dragon slayer.
That's what the book will look like once it is published. In the meantime, here is the Kindle Vella cover.
Finally, I would like to note that there's been a slight change of plans, particularly in regard with my other Kindle Vella release Awoken and that is I don't think I'll be releasing it in 2023 at all. Instead, I'm pushing it back till 2024 and I've decided that the second Kindle Vella release next year will be Savage Gods and Spellbooks 2.
A lot of reasons factored into why I decided to do this. Firstly, I figured it would probably be best if I focused on finishing a series instead of trying to work on two at once. Even though I'm really good at juggling differing series, sometimes it gets to the point where I've got too much bouncing around in my brain and I was at that point with next year's publishing schedule—I had ten series I was trying to work on and trust me, I won't be doing that again.
Secondly, I think it would be less confusing for Ruskhazar as a whole. While each of my series in that world can be read separately, I decided that there were too many of those going at once all series that had started around the same time and you guys might get characters and dates mixed up. So, I'll release the Gods of the Dead books closer to each other, so it won't be as confusing.
A third reason is that I was going over my release plans and out of the ten books I plan to release next year seven of them would have been YA books, with five of them being new series starters. Next year I will be finishing up both of my portal fantasy series (Of Dreams and Nightmares and My Time in Amar) and this book is kind of sort of a portal fantasy. One thing I try not to do is work on stories that have similar concepts at the same time (as an example I had two faerie ideas at the time I was working on Of Gold and Iron, I chose to do OGaI so the other one was put off to the side for when I got fresh ideas so they didn't end up being too similar—obviously there is a difference with books set in the same world because then I don't have to worry about my worlds and magic systems being too similar, but if a book is set in a different world I'll probably put it off until I can make both the worlds distinct in and of themselves) and Domain of the North is very close to My Time in Amar especially in tone so I've decided to put off starting it until I have finished that series.
So, 2024 it is. But hey, you'll be getting the whole Gods of the Dead duology next year so there is that...
